Where Everyone Can Be A Star!

Girl Scout Badge Program
Our Girl Scout Equine Badge program is thoughtfully designed around the Girl Scout motto and values, offering a welcoming, confidence-building experience that’s perfect for timid or first-time riders. Your troop stays together in the arena (rather than being split into groups or separate stations) to foster connection and teamwork while building relationships with our gentle herd members. All topics align with official handbook requirements, and while the horseback riding patch is a Junior-level badge, scouts of all levels are welcome to participate and choose the badge or fun patch that best fits their troop’s goals.

Frequently Asked Questions:
1. What do I wear?
All people present on the farm should wear close toed shoes (No Sandals, Heels, or Crocs). Riders tend to be more comfortable in pants but they are not required. Please dress for the weather! We do have an indoor arena but it can be hot in the summer and chilly in the winter!
2. What about a Helmet?
Hair should be in a suitable hairstyle to allow a riding helmet. Helmets will be provided. You may bring your own equine ASTM-certified helmet however bike or other sport helmets are not permitted. Helmets are sanitized between each troop.
3. Do I need to bring anything else?
Depending on your participant you may want to pack a water bottle and snack. If your participant is prone to allergies, please be prepared (there is dust, pollen, hay, horses, cats, etc). Each participant must also bring a signed liability waiver by a parent/guardian. Troop leaders are not permitted to sign waivers for their troop members.
4. Do You Provide The Badges?
We do not, as it helps us keep the costs down for the day since we don’t require a minimum number of girls and we try not to combine troops to keep it familiar for your troop. Often times we have groups with different levels so they need different badges as well.
5. What if I have scouts who are nervous?
Bring them! You’d be surprised the magic we can work on the farm!
6. Can Siblings/Troop Leaders/Parents get up in the saddle?
Unfortunately, due to the scheduling of the day, we aren’t able to accommodate extra participants. Our horses work very hard at their jobs, and we respect our partners by not adding additional weight or riders. We want to help our troops earn their badges and can recommend plenty of fun local trail riding places and we host pony ride days often as well!
7. What does the day look like? Do you split everyone into groups?
For the most part we keep everyone together in the same arena and just work in smaller groups. We start with an introduction, then safety lesson, then move to brushing and grooming. During these working moments, we talk about what horses eat, horse sports, what riders wear, work involved in owning horses, etc. We try not to lecture the participants and keep it fun! Then we tack our horses and practice leading them through an obstacle course. Participants will then mount and go through the pattern they practiced walk through. Each participant is mounted for about 5-7 minutes. (Comparatively, a trail ride with 60 minutes mounted time is typically $75/hr). We finish the day by feeding treats to our equine friends and a group photo!
8. What do I need to book my troop?
We will pick a day. Weekday evenings are available but limited. Saturday afternoons and Sundays are our first pick for scheduling scout troops. We require troop leaders to return the group registration form with a deposit of $100 to hold your spot! Deposit can be transferred to a reschedule date if communication is open regarding circumstances. If troops are no call, no show-deposits will be kept.
